Vintage Luguru-Style Anthropomorphic Rocking Chair — Style 2
The Luguru and Kaguru people, who originated from the East African lands now known as Kenya and Tanzania, were known for making handicrafts that included wooden chairs carved to look like human beings. This antique wooden rocking chair, made form ebonized wood, was also made by African craftspeople, though its style differs somewhat from what Luguru and Kaguru artisans tend to make. Even so, its distinctive look offers a unique opportunity to antique collectors with an eye for the unusual.
